A company with tradition

In 1873, clockmaker Bernhard Friedrich Kuhlmann, hailing from the Münsterland region, took over a clock store with workshop situated in Wilhelmhaven.

Very soon precise works for the Marine formed the principal part of his business. The factory for navigation, locating and targeting instruments established by B.F. Kuhlmann can be seen as the nucleus of company Kuhlmann.

In 1899 the eldest son, Franz Wilhelm, took over the leadership of store and workshop.
On July 1st in 1903 he sourced out the fine mechanical workshop and founded his own company in Wilhelmshaven, starting with 5 helpmates and 2 apprentices.

In 1906 company Franz Kuhlmann entered into the register of commerce.
